Thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are two closely related branches of physics that serve as fundamental tools in various fields of engineering. At IFCAE, we have several research lines in this field, ranging from fundamental science to practical solutions for industrial processes. The lines include:

  • Modeling and numerical analysis of fluid flows (liquids and gases), including transonic and turbulent flows, with or without heat transfer, using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations. Aerodynamic studies.
  • Theoretical and simulation studies of thermodynamic and molecular dynamics aspects for different systems, such as water and biological systems.
  • Experimental studies of rheology (viscoelastic and flow measurements) of various types of materials. Experimental determination of thermophysical properties over wide pressure and temperature ranges.
